Mariana Hug Silva

Mariana H. Silva is an Infrastructure and Sustainable Finance specialist at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). She advises national governments on policies and instruments of financial capital and financial risk management services in a manner that provides for economic growth, social justice and stewardship of the natural environment. Prior to joining IISD, Ms. H. Silva worked in the banking sector as an emerging market economist and for the Central Bank of Mexico. Ms. H. Silva specializes in innovative financial instruments to capitalize sustainable infrastructure projects . Her expertise in capital markets include fixed income securities and structured products, which the sustainable finance program explores as effective instruments for sustainable economic growth. Mariana H. Silva has pursued her studies and working experiences in different regions to gain an international perspective: born in Mexico, she has since lived in Switzerland, Germany, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.
