Yüksel Görmez

YUKSEL GORMEZ graduated from Economics Department of the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey as of 1988 and joined to the Central Bank of Turkey Markets Department next year. He had an MBA in Banking and Finance from the University of Exeter in 1995 and a PhD from the City University Business School, London, in 2001. He got a The Bank of Finland scholarship in 2000. He also had a project with the World Gold Council in London in 2001. He came back to Markets Department in July 2001 and moved to the Research Department to take part in launching of inflation targeting regime. He headed the Financial Analysis Division until 2009 when assigned as Senior Economist. From 2010 to 2012, he was representing the Central Bank of Turkey in Tokyo. From 2013, he was in Beijing as the Economic Counsellor for two years with a responsibility to understand China macro. He came back to the Bank in December 2014. He has affiliations to four Chinese think thanks, namely RDCY, IMI, CIFI and CSEDS. He recently keeps investigating anything and everything about China macro from RMB internationalisation to central bank operational strategies and from financial market liberalisation to capital market opening. He is married with one child.
